Perhaps some will not recognize the photograph of my preacher who served forty years as senior minister of Southland Christian Church, Lexington, KY. It is important to know this church is the second largest in Kentucky, averaging in excess of 8,000 each weekend. Brother Smith is often referred to as the "Bob Hope of the Ministry" because of his humor. More importantly he says what he means and means what he says. He is a man of integrity. " I have been in the ministry 55 years and experienced 7 building programs totaling 8 milllion dollars. Few things in life equal the excitement of a building program. A building arises that is an answer to prayer and sacrifice. Finally, a dream becomes reality. On the other hand, a building program filled with delays for whatever reason can be a nightmare. In one of our building programs it was necessary to dismiss the Contractor after several months of work. I'm ashamed to tell you how much we lost. Some companies have better salesman and displays than others. My advise to you is to use the method I used in hiring a member of my staff. The Bible says, 'By their fruit ye shall know them.' In other words, 'What did they accomplish in the past?' Anyone can produce a good resume.
